BOTOX is the only approved treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines and crow’s feet lines. BOTOX can help you to look younger, calmer and more alert. Our dentist may recommend BOTOX as a great choice to help you regain a more youthful appearance and boost your self-confidence.

Botox Injections

Botox is a medication that is injected into the muscles of the brow to smooth frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet.

BOTOX can also be used for a number of other purposes. Based on your specific needs, we may suggest BOTOX to reduce migraine headaches, lessen excessive sweating or help treat a TMJ disorder.

BOTOX involves no incisions, stitches or surgery, so you can resume your daily routine directly following your appointment. This also means that your treatment will be comfortable and fast. Our team will simply inject the medication into the muscles. We may use ice or a topical numbing cream before the treatment to ensure that you feel completely comfortable. You may begin noticing improvements as soon as 24 to 48 hours after the treatment, and your BOTOX results can last up to four months.

  • How Does Botox Work?

Doctors have been using Botox for years to successfully treat wrinkles and facial creases. Botox blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles so the injected muscle cannot contract, which makes the wrinkles relax and soften. It’s generally used on forehead lines, crow’s feet (lines around the eyes, and frown lines.

  • How long does a Botox Injection Last?

The effects from a Botox injection usually lasts three to six months. As muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles also begin to reappear and will need to be treated again. Most lines and wrinkles, however, will appear less sever with time because the muscles begin shrinking as they are injected.

  • How is a Botox Treatment Performed?

Botox injections are typically performed in your doctor or dentist office. Your dentist will use a thin needle to inject tiny amounts of botulinum toxin into your skin or muscles. The number of injections needed depends on many factors, including the extent of the area being treated.

After the procedure, do not rub or massage the treated area for 24 hours to prevent the toxin from spreading to a different area. Botox injections generally begin working one to three days after treatment depending on the problem being treated.
